1956 Lincoln Capri

Vehicle Story

NEW VIDEO - TAKE A RIDE WITH DAVID NEEL AND CHECK OUT THE OLD ED SULLIVAN COMMERCIAL: The beautiful '56 Lincoln Capri was donated to the Murphy Auto Museum. This body style was new for '56 and produced for only two years. 1958 saw a completely restyled line up from Lincoln.

Beautiful mid century design with era appropriate knobs and switches inside the cabin. This was the first year of this body style and was equipped with a 368 cubic inch engine which delivered 285 horsepower. This was an entry level Lincoln, which a higher styled but similarly looking model being available for higher end buyers called the Premiere.

This car was the inspiration for a concept car by Lincoln called Futura, which never went into production, but was the basis for George Barris’ batmobile creation for the 1960s TV show. Notice the front headlights and brow of this car, then compare to the batmobile; you will see the similarity.
